NAME OF THE GAME: Peppers Guest House is having a double celebration with news that it's former restaurant Chez Pok, has been awarded "Best Restaurant in a Hotel" for the Hunter Region, at the Restaurant and Catering Awards for Excellence. The award is nominated by the public and judged under a mystery shopper program, and now Chez Pok will go on to the state awards. This is great news for the restaurant's legacy at the retreat, which has now changed the name to Sanctuary Restaurant, marking a new age of exquisite dining and service for guests and locals alike, complete with a fresh refurbishment and direction.


PROUD AS PUNCH: At the beginning of July the Craigieburn Resort in beautiful Bowral was officially fully branded as a Peppers retreat to now be known as 'Peppers Craigieburn'. During 2009, Craigieburn's centenary year, the retreat underwent a major million dollar refurbishment including all guest rooms and function spaces. Rien Donkin is the General Manager at Peppers Craigieburn and is looking forward to running and marketing the property as a Peppers retreat.


TASTEFUL ADDITION: Queensland's loss is a most welcome gain for Peppers Springs Retreat & Mineral Spa at Hepburn Springs, with award-winning chef, John Paul Fiechtner, taking over the kitchen at the retreat's on-site restaurant DECO. The former Dubai private country club and Spicer's Peak Lodge chef will be emphasising seasonal and local/organic produce, letting the ingredients do the talking. John Paul plans to move DECO into a new and contemporary direction with tasting style menus.
