An inspirational day two of the Mantra Group conference saw another stellar line up of speakers including Australian of the Year Rosie Batty, gold medal aerial skiier Alisa Camplin and current affairs journalist Ellen Fanning.
After yesterday's line up saw former PM Paul Keating and Tourism Australia marketing chief Lisa Ronson focus on the growing importance of the Asia tourism market; today's session drew on the motivational stories of these three extraordinary women and how they can be applied in personal and professional life.
"Rosie has obviously emerged from extreme adversity to become a social advocate; Alisa has shown what planning and commitment can achieve and Ellen, a professional approach to communication. These are all values and skills we hold dear at Mantra Group" said Mantra Group Executive Michelle Lalli who lead a panel discussion with the group.
Rosie Batty shared her ongoing campaign to combat domestic violence in the wake of the tragic death of her son Luke saying she preferred to be considered "an advocate than a person to be pitied as there was much work to be done on this issue."
Extraordinarily, Alisa Camplin shared that her Olympic campaign in fact started as a marathon runner before catching the aerial ski bug. She then lead the audience through her rigid training philosophy which she also applies in daily life with some sage advice on goal setting:
"It's the strength of your reasons why that will help you to find the discipline to achieve your goals - drill down and find out really what your reasons are."
Veteran journalist Ellen Fanning focused on an often overlooked but highly important part of communication - listening:
"It can be very powerful to ask the simplest of questions, and just listen."
Mantra Group CEO said the day was a great success, leaving the 250 strong staff in the room highly motivated.
"It was quite an emotional day and extremely inspiring to be in the presence of such highly intelligent and impressive people, and I know our team members will remember their words for a long time to come."
Mantra Group presented a donation of $10,000 to Rosie Batty's Never Alone foundation and Alisa Camplin's Finnans Gift Foundation at the conclusion of the conference.
The conference was held at Mantra on Salt Beach, Kingscliff - one of the Groups hero conferencing properties.
