MANTRA ON THE ESPLANADE, DARWIN WINS AT STATE TOURISM AWARDS
One of Darwin’s most desirable waterfront properties, Mantra on the Esplanade, was awarded the highest honours in the tourism industry over the weekend, winning the ‘Deluxe Accommodation’ category at the 2012 Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards.
Awarded for its newly refurbished accommodation and facilities and quality services, the hotel trumped the award category’s fierce competition with Medina Grand Waterfront Darwin, Lasseters Hotel Casino, Alice Springs, Quest Parap and Palmerston and Best Western Darwin Airport Gateway Hotel among the finalists.
The awards were held on Saturday evening at the Darwin Convention Centre and are recognised as the industry's most prestigious awards program.
Mantra Group Chief Executive Officer Bob East said it is a great honour for Mantra on the Esplanade to win the deluxe accommodation award, which recognises excellence in accommodation providers in the 4 to 4.5 star range.
“Tourism awards salute the industry’s leading operators, businesses and individuals and reinforce the enormous value of tourism to the community and we are thrilled that Mantra on the Esplanade has been recognised as among the Northern Territory’s best,” Mr East said.
“This award win is possible because Mantra on the Esplanade has a team of dedicated and experienced staff who are highly committed to excellence in customer service.”
“We’re also delighted that the hotel’s major $3 million refurbishment has made such an impression so soon after its completion.”
Success at state level gives Mantra on the Esplanade the opportunity to win nationally at the Australian Tourism Awards, which will be held in Hobart in February 2013.
