MANTRA GROUP PROPERTIES IN TNQ ARE BATTING FOR THE LUKE BATTY FOUNDATION

MANTRA GROUP PROPERTIES IN TNQ ARE BATTING FOR THE LUKE BATTY FOUNDATION

Mantra Group’s North Queensland Region is again showing their support for the Luke Batty Foundation, the group’s official charity partner, by hosting their annual cricket day fundraiser at the Port Douglas Community Sports Complex on Saturday, June 17.

The cricket day is a major fundraising initiative for the region and is expected to raise $20,000 for the Foundation. This total will be added to the regions Corporate Social Responsibility contribution for the year.

Mantra Group Area Manager for Port Douglas Chris Northam (pictured) said the day is a great community event and encourages locals in the area to come along and enjoy a day of entertainment.

“Everyone is welcome to come down and support our teams as they dust off their whites and hit the pitch for a game of cricket,” said Mr Northam.

“We have countless prizes up for grabs on the day, and those who catch any ball that flies over the boundary on the full go into the running to win our major Tasmanian accommodation prize.”

Port Douglas Crocs AFL President Chris Bradsworth and Local Cricket Club President Ben Vikionkorpi (both pictured) are key supporters in the event, with the two sports codes coming together to assist Mantra Group in their fundraising efforts.

“The Luke Batty Foundation is an important foundation for us to support in our community, and it was only fitting that we allowed Mantra Group the use of the sports complex and catering facilities on the day,” said Mr Bradsworth.

A pitch will be specifically crafted for the team outside of the cricket season, and our staff and players will be there on the day to support Mantra Group in their aim to reach $20,000,” said Mr Vikionkorpi.

Making an appearance at the cricket day fundraiser is past Australian Cricketer Damian Wright, now coach of the Hobart Hurricanes cricket team, and Mark Ridgway, former cricketer for the Tasmanian Tigers.

In FY16, Mantra Group donated $79,265 to the Luke Batty Foundation through events such as the cricket day and staff fundraising initiatives.
