Mantra Group News

FROM THE DIRECTOR OF ACQUISITIONS MICHAEL MORET-LALLI

Welcome to 2016 and the year’s first edition of ADVANCE.

Mantra

I trust you enjoyed the festive season, following a very positive year across the hotel investment sector.  In this update, we share news of Mantra Group’s recent performance, our acquisition activity, and senior executive appointments.

For Mantra Group’s development and acquisitions team, 2015 was a prolific year, marked by a record 15 hotel openings, which added a massive 4,400 rooms to our portfolio of 126 properties across Australia, New Zealand, and Bali.

This growth is attributable to Mantra Group’s surging profile and dominant positioning as a hotel operator of choice. To continue to capitalize on expansion opportunities in our region, we welcome the addition of two senior executives to our development team, plus the establishment of a regional office in Singapore.

In February, Andrew Turner will take on the newly created role of Vice President Acquisitions Asia, based in Singapore.  Andrew is one of our industry’s most successful and respected hoteliers, having served as CEO of Mirvac Hotels and Resorts and more recently as Executive Vice President, Business Development for SilverNeedle Hospitality, based in Singapore.  Andrew has a deep knowledge of the Australian, NZ and South East Asian hotel markets and is well positioned to spearhead Mantra Group’s mandate to grow our presence in key Asian markets.

Further bolstering our capabilities is the recent commencement of experienced commercial lawyer, Lisa Kirkup, in the role of Development Manager.  Lisa has served as Mantra Group’s Corporate Counsel for the past two years, prior to which she was Corporate Counsel for RACQ and Samsung Electronics, after practicing as a Mergers and Acquisitions Lawyer with leading national firm King & Wood Mallesons, in Sydney.

Lisa’s commercial and legal acumen, along with Andrew’s track record of industry leadership, add invaluable in-house expertise to our team of industry professionals. Together, we look forward to engaging with you in the year ahead.
